Obedience Course
The first session of basic obedience starts in April!
This 7 week course runs every Monday at the daycare from 7:00pm until 8:15pm. The first session begins on Monday April 4th, 2016. This first day is an intro for just the fur parents- the fur kids stay home. Feel free to bring a pen and paper. Course materials will be handed out at this time.
This course is great for fur babies as well as older fur kids who may have either missed this or are in need of a refresher. During the sessions, fur parents will get an introduction to understanding fur kid behaviour as well as fur kid body language (non-verbal communication) so that they can lead confidently and assertively. The fur kids will learn how to sit, stay, come, lay down, leave it, and how to loose leash walk (heel).
Fur parents, please come down to the daycare to fill out the registration form this week (prior to the start of the course). It will take approximately 20 minutes to do so and once the course fee ($250 + GST) is paid in full, your spot in the class is confirmed.
For sessions 2 through 7, ensure your fur kid comes to class with a Martingale collar and a 4-6 foot flat leash. Flexi/retractable leashes are not permitted and neither are body harnesses or flat collars. We will be happy to show you examples of the proper gear when you come in. For these hands on sessions, and especially for food motivated fur kids, hold off on feeding them dinner before class and bring in training treats for extra incentive. We also have small biscuits for purchase that will do the trick.
Fur kids need to attend all sessions and pass a final test in order to receive their FURever Obedient certificate. Missed sessions including the final exam are all subject to additional fees- $25 for re-scheduling a missed class and $50 for missing the final exam. Fur kids are not eligible for a passing certificate if more than one class is missed but they are welcome to continue attending. There is no refund on the course fee, in whole or in part. Other humans in the fur kid household who also wish to be pack leaders are welcome to attend the classes.
This session is filling up fast, don’t delay. Come down and see us and/or call for more information (587)349-1238.
